Policies - Attendance Policy & Procedures

PARENT VERIFICATION
Parents should notify the attendance office on the day of an absence. The attendance office will record the status of each absence (verified or unverified).  If no contact by the parent is made, a computerized "home caller" will contact the home by phone each evening informing the parents of any absence accrued by their student during that day.

FIRST PERIOD RE-ADMITTANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS
Students should arrive at school early on the day of their return from an absence and obtain a re-admit from the attendance office. The re-admit slip will be marked either verified or unverified depending on whether or not parents have made contact with the office.
The attendance office will issue a detention for students who arrive late to school without a valid excuse from a parent or guardian.

TRUANCIES:
Full-day absences will be verified by attendance personnel. Students who are unable to verify absences within 48 hours will be considered truant.  Students with uncleared full-day absences will be referred to the assistant principal who will assign one day of Saturday School for each day of truancy.
Habitual truants and their parents will be referred to the school Student Success Team (SST) and/or the district Student Attendance Review Board (SARB) for severe disciplinary action, which could include legal prosecution and monetary fines.
